Cupcake

A bit before Christmas, my mom called to ask me if it would be okay if they bought the girls an aquarium. After talking it through with the hubby, we decided it would be great for the girls to each have their own little fishy. Autumn just about flipped when she opened the fish tank on Christmas morning!

A few days later, we took the girls to PetSmart so that they could pick out their fish. After talking to an employee, we were informed that we only had two choices when it came to which fish we could purchase being that the tank was only a little over 1.5 gallons. One option was a beta fish which wouldn't work since the girls each wanted their own fish and Autumn decided that the other choice was "not that cute". We walked around the store for a while in hopes that the girls would eventually pick two little fishies so that we could hit the road. They finally chose what they wanted but it was far from a fish!

MEET CUPCAKE
Who in the world goes to a pet store to buy a fish or two but leaves with a guinea pig instead?!! We do. This is the proof that we are MAJOR impulse buyers and it is absolutely ridiculous. We apparently also have issues telling our children "NO" when we probably should. I couldn't help it though, this little guy was looking up at me and all I could think about was the guinea pig on Dr. Dolittle. I just couldn't resist!

Autumn chose to name him Cupcake and bought him all purple accessories, poor guy! We also bought letters to spell out his name on his cage and put cupcake stickers on each side. You can kind of see it in the picture.

The girls really enjoy him. Dustin is the only one that has held him so far since we read that they can bite. But the girls sit next to Dustin and pet Cupcake all the time. They love to help me clean out his cage and give him treats. He makes the cutest little noises too, he whistles and chirps when we give him attention!

I think we will keep him! =)

  1. Cupcake is cute...I have to admit...but I am so not into rodents! (:>)

So did you get the fish for the aquarium too? My granddaughter Bailey has had an aquarium for many years. She assumed the responsibility for cleaning the tank, and has always done a good job. (She made a few mistakes along the way)...Sometimes the fish die and she buys more. (:0) Now she is 19 and still has it in her room. Hers is a pretty good size...but those little ones would be a good place to start.

    Love, Linda
