Reading through my blog I noticed that I haven't posted anything about the schooling I do with the girls throughout the week. I have received several different emails and messages from mommies with young children asking me all about what we do. So I figured I would share a bit.
Each week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, the girls sit down at the table during O's nap time to have a little school session. I choose a theme for each week and select printables, books from the library, bible verses and lessons, crafts, and other activities within that theme. There are so many awesome FREE resources just within the bloggy world. Some of my favorites are 2 Teaching Mommies, 1+1+1=1, A Heart For Home, and don't even get me started on the awesome things you can find on pinterest. I love all of the preschool packs available because some of the activities are perfect for Aubrey and some for Autumn all in one spot. I also follow a bunch of Kindergarten teachers blogs and they share their different lesson plans and printables at times.
Autumn also has a list of sight words and "need to know" for preschoolers, kindergarteners, and first graders that we are currently working our way through. Thankfully, my youngest cousin has a ton of simple paper books that were given to him by his school when he was learning to read and he has given them all to us. We probably have like 80 of them and Autumn reads through one at each lesson as well. I also love to purchase lesson books from the dollar tree for topics such as math, clock work, money, animal and plant science, and so on. Many of these are with favorite characters from Disney which keeps it fun for the girls. Also, all throughout the week the girls are allowed to get on our computers to access fun, educational websites such as Starfall, Kids Know It, and more.
So this isn't just a post full of words, I took some pictures a few weeks ago when our theme was pumpkins.
We visited the pumpkin patch.
Learned about pumpkin parts.
Memorized John 15:1 and related it to pumpkins growing from the vine.
She cut out the verse and glued it to orange construction paper later in the week.
Forming words with some sight words.
Baked pumpkin muffins
Painted our pumpkins
Measurements with pumpkins
We also completed pumpkin observations and checked out three different pumpkin books from the library.
Lots of pumpkin fun!
If there is anything I mentioned within this post and I didn't provide a link to that you may be interested in please let me know and I will email it to you. I seriously have folders and folders of documents saved on my computer. I have a plastic tote that holds all of our workbooks, dry erase boards, books for the week, our calendar, crayon box, and my binder. In the binder is where all of our printables, lesson plans, resource list, and upcoming projects can be found. Have to stay organized! This time I spend with the girls is seriously one of my favorite ways to be with them and I know they really enjoy it too. It is so great to watch them learn new things and I hope that it instills a love for learning that will continue as they grow.
On a completely different note, I hope each and everyone of you have an awesome and blessed Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

Sounds wonderful! You are such an awesome mommy! Your daughters are certainly blessed to have you teach them at home! I envy you!
